What do Molly the Cat and the Dalai Lama have in common? Being deemed representatives of their respective countries in the first newspaper I read in a week.
The Times of India has a section titled “Briefs” where it carries news items from around the world. In between the deaths of 41 Taliban and 6 Afghans, while Lankan rebels pulled out of peace talks and the Dalai Lama met with Muslim leaders for peace, Molly the cat, from the pleasant little hamlet of Greenwich village, my home in New York, was the representative of the mighty land of the United States of America in this newspaper, half-way across the world and about 11,000 feet above the walls that the poor cat was trapped in between.
